PELVIC HEALTH & ABDOMINAL VISCERAL WORK
I believe in supporting women full circle. From fertility and conception through birth, postpartum, and beyond.
As a women's health specialist, physical therapist, and birth doula, I have met and worked with hundreds of women over the past five years. Following extensive training through the Barral Institute, I began utilizing visceral manipulation to help restore health and functionality within the female pelvis and abdominal viscera. This gentle and non-invasive technique helps to allow your pelvis and abdomen, a highly emotional space, to heal.
Traditional methods of pelvic floor therapy often hone in on the pelvic floor muscles as the source of dysfunction. However, this is often not the case. Pelvic floor dysfunction can stem from the structures surrounding the female reproductive organs such as the urinary bladder or bowel, the associated musculature, ligaments, fascia and bones, or from the reproductive organs themselves.
Our organs have to move in order to be functional. Loss of motion within the soft tissues can occur when inflammation is present. Tissue inflammation can be caused by infection, direct trauma, repetitious movement, diet, environmental toxins, surgeries, emotional stress, etc.

VISCERAL MANIPULATION IS...
GENTLE MANUAL THERAPY THAT ENCOURAGES NORMAL TONE AND MOVEMENT BOTH WITHIN AND BETWEEN THE INTERNAL ORGANS, THEIR CONNECTIVE TISSUES, AND OTHER STRUCTURES OF THE BODY WHERE NORMAL MOTION HAS BEEN IMPAIRED
BASED ON THE PREMISE THAT MOVEMENT IS ESSENTIAL FOR LIFE AND ANY RESTRICTION WILL AFFECT OUR HEALTH
A HANDS ON THERAPY WITH THE SPECIFIC GOAL OF ALLOWING THE BODY TO SELF-CORRECT, BY EVALUATING THE ENTIRE BODY TO FIND THE SOURCE OF TENSION, INSTEAD OF FOCUSING SOLELY ON THE SITE OF PAIN
Full Person. Full Story. Full Circle.
INITIAL EVALUATION - 60 MINS
In the evaluation, I will listen to your story about what is bringing you in to see me, in great detail. We will go over specific questions about medical history, bladder habits, bowel habits, pain, and sexual function and then end with a physical exam. Depending on your symptoms, the exam may include an internal assessment. This will allow me to gather all of the information about what might be contributing to your symptoms so that I can tailor a comprehensive plan of care for you.
TREATMENT SESSION - 60 MINS
During treatment sessions, I will listen to your tissues and utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques including, visceral manipulation, neural manipulation, negative pressure cupping, scar mobilization, fascial release techniques, internal release techniques, and more. All sessions are manual therapy based and cater to your individual needs.

"I believe that the emotional impacts of conditions such as pregnancy, birth, and menopause are just as important as the physical ones. The best doctors transcend the traditional Western medicine model and treat the whole woman. When we are able to address the physical, mental, and spiritual we are no longer just doctors, we are healers."
